RACHEL ROY FOR $15

Rachel Roy

Bought these sparkly Rachel Roy flats to perk up my winter outfits.  They were just $15 on clearance from Housing Works!  Their big sale is going on through this evening, so there’s still time to check it out.

MORE SALES AND SANDY

100 stores are holding sales this weekend in the Lower East Side, the East Village, and Nolita as part of the Capsule Network Neighborhood event.  You can find a list of participating boutiques here.  Restaurants and bars in the area are also offering discounts and special happy hours.  A lot of these businesses were hurt because of damage and/or power outages due to Hurricane Sandy, so they could use your bucks.  And all stores are accepting cash donations for the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief.  This is a good way to kick off holiday shopping season and help those in need.

I love Thakoon’s groovy clothes.  And I love even more that he’s having a sample sale with prices as low as $50!  And I love the most that he’s donating part of the proceeds to victims of Hurricane Sandy!  Shoppers at the sale are also encouraged to bring items like diapers, toiletries and flashlights to donate.  The sale is going on now through Saturday, November 17, from 8:30am to 6:30pm, at 270 Lafayette Street, Suite 1005, at Prince Street.  Bargainistas, you can shop, save, AND help someone!

HURRICANE SANDY UPDATE

Here’s an update on why there hasn’t been much going on at Fashionmomix lately.  Instead of shopping for clothes, I was shopping for bottled water, dry food, and flashlights to prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy.  Luckily, my family came away relatively unscathed, but as you know, thousands were not so lucky.  I have donated everything I bought, as well as some additional goods, to help those in need.  And I keep doing what I can, even it just means dropping off diapers and bottled water to a church to deliver to survivors.  Imagine you needed those items and they were nowhere to be found?  Some enterprising people have found ways for all of us to help out.  Take Sandy Registry on Amazon.  That’s a wedding registry that’s been turned into a list of items you can buy and have delivered to people in affected areas.  You can also follow what these people are doing on Twitter via @SandyRegistry.  It’s genius!  Rockawayhelp.com is good too.  Soon Fashionmomix will return to the world of fashion, but we can’t forget those who don’t have their basic needs met.  Please help!

Housing Works on the Upper West Side is having its annual fall sale this afternoon.  At last year’s sale, I found a real Missoni dress (not the M line, not the Target Missoni line) for $125 which is not cheap, but still pretty amazing.   And the proceeds go to charity so you’re giving your money to a good cause.  GO THERE NOW!
